ShareThisThe interview that Katrina Browne and Tom DeWolf recently did with Russ Mitchell is scheduled to air tomorrow morning, June 19, between 8:00 and 9:00am on The Early Show on CBS.
The interview is scheduled to air tomorrow in recognition of “Juneteenth“, celebrated by many in the African American community as “Black Independence Day.” It was June 19, 1865 when Union soldiers arrived in Galveston, Texas to inform the last of the enslaved people there (roughly a quarter of a million people) that they were free–two and half years after the Emancipation Proclamation went into effect. Juneteenth was first celebrated as a state holiday in Texas in 1980.
